QTee Pears Now in Australia
Horticulture Brand Management Australia, the only Australia licencee of the QTee Pear, have begun planting this new pear variety in the country’s key pear growing regions of the Goulburn Valley (Victoria), Adelaide Hills (South Australia) and Manjimup (Western Australia). QTee is described as having a sweet, aromatic flavour that can be eaten crunchy or soft, and is a popular choice in Belgium where it was first planted in 2015, and Slovakia, Norway, Switzerland, South Africa, Spain, Austria, and France. Mid-to-late February is when the pear will be harvested, but subject to strict quality controls to ensure the best products will enter the market. It will be marketed as a healthy, low-calorie snack that is also ideal for cooking, baking, and preserving.
